A preventive conservation project of Chih-kan Tower's bixi-based steles

Nine bixi-based steles in front of Chih-Kan Tower, which have been displayed outdoors and exposed to the air and sunshine, seem heavily overloaded with work. To protect these steles from the threats of environmental effects such as temperatures, humidity, and air pollution, TMACH has delegated a preventive conservation project to Tainan National University of the Arts since last year. After doing a series of research and assessments, the project has finally been carried out on May 31. TMACH noted that this project made these steles covered with a protective coating, which can strengthen its resistance to atmospheric conditions and retard weathering in order to conserve important tangible cultural heritage of our country.
